St. David’s Rehabilitation Hospital Has Treated
More Than 43,000 Patients Since Opening in 1989

AUSTIN, Texas — In September, St. David’s Rehabilitation Hospital—St. David’s Rehabilitation’s flagship campus, located in Central Austin—celebrated its 25th anniversary. Since St. David’s Rehabilitation Hospital opened in 1989, more than 43,000 patients have trusted St. David’s Rehabilitation Hospital physicians, therapists and staff members with their rehabilitation care.

“While the technology and techniques we use to treat our patients have become more advanced during the last two and a half decades, our commitment to providing exceptional care to our patients remains unchanged,” Everett Heinze, M.D., medical director of St. David’s Rehabilitation Hospital and affiliate member of St. David’s Neuroscience & Spine Institute at St. David’s HealthCare, said. “It has been a privilege to serve and grow with the Central Texas community.”

St. David’s Rehabilitation features 110 inpatient beds within four facilities located in Travis and Williamson counties. In addition, the network consists of two day programs, 10 outpatient locations, 15 specialty programs, 26 different technologies and treatments, and an aquatic therapy pool that remains 92 degrees year round. Its physicians and therapists specialize in the treatment of complex neurological conditions, including Guillain Barré syndrome, spinal cord injuries, Parkinson’s disease, stroke and traumatic brain injury, as well as the treatment of more common conditions, such as amputations, arthritis, muscular and orthopedic conditions, lymphatic disorders, chronic pain and joint replacement.

St. David’s Rehabilitation Hospital was also the first facility in Central Texas to acquire and use the ReWalk© Rehabilitation system to help patients with spinal cord injuries to stand, walk, and navigate slopes and uneven terrain independently.
